With all the choices out there how do you choose? It can be confusing when they are all starting to look the same. The first thing you need to think about is what kind of beads are they using? Are they plastic, acrylic, chinese beads, cheap glass? At ladybead we use top quality Swarovski Pearls, Austrian Crystals, Freshwater Pearls, Czech Crystals and pressed glass. Though they may look alike on the web, in person it's another story. Swarovski Pearls and Austrian Crystals are a top quality. Their crystals shine with a brilliance unlike any other crystals.
Another thing to think about is how long will they last? What are they strung on? I have had people ask me for a different size backing 4 years after their wedding so they could give their jewelry to a friend.
Some use a stretchy material to bead their jewelry on that will stretch out. One size fits all so a size 6 is the same as a size 9. Some are they made in china with the cheapest available materials?
Ours are strung on a very durable advanced beading fiber that does not stretch. The only part that stretches is the backing (the part that goes around the heel). It stretches for comfort and durability. It is a 2mm metallic stretch cord, unlike stretch magic that some use to string their beads on that is .08mm.
If you are unsure just ask before you buy what kind of materials they use. A couple of questions can help you to make sure you get what you are expecting.
